| A rough sketch of Blackbird. I need to practice her a bit more.
Oh, this is based on a drawing of Blackbird that I got off the Web. The signature looks
like 'Gratin'.
Update: 6/12/1999: I got an e-mail from the artist. The signature is actually
'Gryphon'. :D I can make it out, now that I know what it's supposed to be, but it
still looks like 'Gratin' to me. :D

| I've spent a good part of the week trying to figure out how to draw
Blackbird. Here are some of my efforts to work out in my head what the character
should look like.
| Birds are tough. Beaks are tough, wings are tough, and I've had
trouble working out the shape of the head and the eyes.
| Starting to come together here. Not a bad figure for a bird, huh? ;D
| Ah! With this sketch, things finally started to click. I must confess
that the arm-wing design borrows heavily from drawings I saw by Shawntae Howard. (If you're
going to copy, copy the best. :D )
| I still think the head has kind of a 'bald' look. Attempts to hang
gratuitous 'hair' on it just don't work though. Hmm... I'll have to keep thinking
about that. Still not satisfied with these eyes, either.
| I think these are my favorites so far, particularly the one on the
left. I like the pose, the wings, the feet. I'm even fairly happy with
the eyes. :D
| I don't like this quite as much as the previous two. It's an attempt at
an action pose, but I think it lacks the 'class' of the standing poses.
| Some more sketches of Blackbird of FurryMUCK. Trying out a few
pose ideas, and even a couple of costumes. (Although she looks best in her feathers. :) )
| More Blackbird sketches. It had been a while since I drew her, so I had
to figure out the beak all over again. Definitely a bit too pigeon-like in the middle
drawing.
| A couple more Blackbird Sketches. She seems to be enjoying a nice,
relaxing evening in the one on the right. :)
| A couple of warm up sketches for a piccie of Oliver sprinkling salt on
Blackbird's tail. :D I still have a ways to go on working out the layout of this
scene, but I like the way it's shaping up. :)
